Navigator Dedication To Honor Avara
Navigator Credit Union will honor the commitment
and service of W.T. Avara, Jr., on
Friday, April 18 as it officially changes the
Northrop Grumman Ship Systems branch of
Navigator Credit Union to the W.T. Avara, Jr.
Building. The honor is bestowed on the late
“Pete” Avara who served as President & CEO
of Navigator Credit Union (formerly Ingalls
Employees Credit Union) for more than 5
decades.
Joseph V. Krebs, Jr., Chairman of the Board
of Directors and long-time Avara friend, commented,
“It is truly significant that this building—
which has stood the test of time and ravages
of hurricanes—will bear the name of the
man who demonstrated courage and strength
as he led the credit union for more than 50
years. I know that I speak for all those who knew the spirit and character of Pete Avara. He will
always be remembered as a man who deeply cared for his credit union members and helped anyone
he could to enrich their lives.”
Following the dedication, guests will have an opportunity to tour the newly remodeled facility
which features state-of-the-art teller stations, safe deposit boxes and drive-through service.

IDENTITY THEFT ALERT
Don’t Get Hooked by Phishers
Credit Union members
have recently become a target
to the latest identity
theft scam known as
phishing. Phishers use the
Internet to steal money
and personal identities.
Victims of phishing
usually receive a fraudulent
e-mail message containing
authentic looking company
logos and familiar graphics.
These emails may be
personalized in an attempt
to lure members to open
the e-mail and divulge personal
financial information
that we already have (such
as your account number)
or information we do not
need to know (such as
your PIN). Once captured,
phishers use your
account information to steal money or create counterfeit ATM cards.
Please don’t fall victim to this scam. Navigator Credit Union will never ask for your
username, password, PIN number or other personal information. Simply delete any
e-mail that appears to be from your financial institution to protect your identity.
e-blasts Provide Instant Information
Navigator members can be kept apprised of important credit union information
through Navigator e-blasts. This new service has already been used to warn members of
one significant fraud scam but may also be used in the future to
provide alerts such as changes in hours of operation due to
severe weather. The service will occasionally be used to
announce special promotional rates on loan and saving products
and to ask for member feedback.
If you are interested in receiving e-blasts, contact the
Navigator Credit Union Member Service Center or sign up at
any branch by providing your current e-mail address.
