NCU Provides a Place for Your CDs
Yeah, its true. Navigator Credit Union has CDsCertificates of Deposit, that is. They also have CD casesthats the compact disc kind. For a limited time, Mariners Club Members can receive a free CD case with every $100 deposit.
You can make one deposit, or 10 deposits to achieve your $100. Each time you make a deposit of $10 or more, youll get a Mariners Club sticker for your Deposit Card. Fill the card up and bring it in to any NCU location to receive your CD Case.
All money deposited must be new money (that is, you cant make a withdrawal then re-deposit.) In order to redeem your deposit card for a free CD case, you must have a $100 balance in your account at the time of redemption.
If you get cash for the holidays, why not put it somewhere that it can earn interest? And where else can you save for that future CD player or hottest CD by your favorite artist and get a free case?
By the way, if you save enough money with NCU you may want to consider purchasing a CD Certificate of Deposit. A CD earns higher dividends than a savings account and is not as accessible when you have the urge to go binge shopping.
Getting a free CD case is a great incentive for saving, but there are a lot more. Saving increases your independence. It allows you to get the things you want. Saving enough can even make you rich. Best of all, learning to save now will put you in control of what you can have and where you will go for the rest of your life. Only right now, you get a free CD case!
Get What You Want With A Spending Plan
Where does your cash come from? Doing jobs like raking leaves? An allowance? From a relative for your birthday? No matter where you get your money or how much you get, youve probably discovered something: Theres always more to buy than there is money to spend.
There is a way to make sure youre getting the most for your money and not wasting it on things you end up not wanting. Its called a spending and saving plan. Some people call it a budget, but that makes it sound boring and not much fun at all.
Your first step is to keep track of what you spend for a couple of weeks. And that means everything: candy from the machine at school, tickets to games (plus the food you eat there), and any gifts you buy for your family. Each night before you go to bed, write it all down in a notebook. Youll begin to discover just how much you spend on things you probably didnt need. Also write down how much money youre getting.
Next, think about things that you need and want: Clothes, CDs, games and so on and how much each will cost. Write that down in your notebook, too. Some things you can buy right now, but youll need to save for items that cost more. Think about sharing, too. For example, does a charity or your church need money to help people?
Now, youre ready to put your plan in place. A good rule of thumb is to divide up your money three ways: money to spend right now or fairly soon, money to save (so you can spend it later) and money to share. Put your savings in your Credit Union account. For one thing, you wont be tempted to move it back into the spend now pile and the money will earn dividends what the Credit Union pays you for keeping your money there. Your spending and saving plan puts your money to work for you.
What's A Googolplex?
If you're an NCU member its two things. A googolplex is the largest named number. (A googol is 10 to the 100th power; a googolplex is 10 to the googol power!)
Googolplex is also the name of a new online magazine that gives you good information about the wise use of money and credit. Each week, Googolplex
will be updated with new puzzles, games, quizzes and moneymaking information. You can visit the C-Note University any time you log on to NCU's web site and find out more about the secrets of financial success such as:
- How to earn money to buy the things you want
- How to make the most of a paycheck
- How to save for the future
- How to establish credit
If you're looking for financial information or just want to have some fun-go to Googolplex. It's a great place to learn about the future-yours!
